This is my personal site. Here's what happens with your information when you visit, in plain language.

No tracking

I don't use Google Analytics. I don't use Facebook Pixel. I don't run advertising or behavioral tracking of any kind. I don't load third-party scripts that watch you around the web. There's no cookie banner because nothing on this site needs your consent. The same promise covers the emails I send: no tracking pixels, no open tracking, no click tracking.

Cookies

The only cookies I set are a session cookie when I sign in to update content, and a short-lived one when you use the email subscribe form, which lets the next page show you the address you typed. Neither follows you around. Visitors who just read are never given any cookies at all.

Contact form

If you fill out the contact form, I get your name, email, and message. I write back. I don't share your information with anyone, sell it, or use it to train models.

Notes by email

If you subscribe to notes by email, I store the address you give me, timestamps for when you subscribed and confirmed, which page you signed up from, and which of my lists you're on (the notes, and the Rendered updates if you add them). The list is double opt-in: nothing is ever sent to an address until someone clicks the confirmation link that address received. The emails carry no tracking pixels and no open or click tracking, so I genuinely can't see whether you opened one. Each note email includes reaction links, and if you use one I record which reaction you clicked on which note as part of your subscription. That's a deliberate click you chose to make, and it's the only signal the emails send back. Unsubscribing is one click, takes effect immediately, and keeps your address only as a do-not-mail record so it can never sneak back onto the list by accident. I don't share subscriber addresses with anyone, sell them, or use them to train models.

Server logs

The hosting infrastructure keeps standard request logs (IP address, user agent, the path you visited, a timestamp) for thirty days. They help me debug problems and watch for abuse.

Notes, RSS, the rest

You can read everything on the site without signing in or being tracked. The RSS feed is the same content, no strings attached.

Where I run from

The site is hosted in the United States on infrastructure I rent from DigitalOcean. If you visit from elsewhere, your information is processed in the United States.

Your rights

If you'd like a copy of what I have about you, or you'd like me to delete it, send a note via the contact form and I'll sort it out within a reasonable time.

Children

This site isn't directed at children, and I don't knowingly collect information from children under thirteen.

Changes

If anything changes I'll update this page and bump the date at the top. I won't retroactively reduce your protections.
