Four months into Rendered, somewhere north of two dozen builds in, and the honest answer to "so how's it going?" is: this is the most fun I've had working in quite a while, though sleep is fleeting. In May I stopped just building things and built the thing that builds things: an operating system for the business, with an AI partner working the other side of the desk. Still one person. Just not working like one.
This week, specifically: a client's new site is staged to the last click, waiting on a DNS flip. A community events calendar I built for local newspapers has its first pitch meeting on the books. And I just taught this site to send notes by email — you can subscribe here and even react to a note without leaving your inbox.
Rendered Consulting is the sit-across-from-an-owner side: custom sites with inline editing, so clients update their own words without calling me. I also run AI Clarity Sessions: one straight, no-hype conversation for owners trying to sort out what AI can and can't do for their business. And there's a /meet page now: twenty minutes, free, no pitch.
Rendered Digital is where the toys live. Boltkey makes passwords. SetKey pitch-shifts YouTube audio so musicians can practice in their own key. BOOM? answers the question everyone in Metro East has texted a neighbor at least once — "did you hear that boom?" — and shows you who else did. And The Click is a metronome for worship teams that pulls Sunday's setlist and tempos straight from Planning Center. It's currently only available for use at August Gate Church, but I hope to get it ready for public release soon, so it can bless others, too. Last time I updated this page, The Click and Stompkey were both "still on the list." One of those shipped. Nice feeling.
I've been chipping away at a new site for my wife Mia's art store — her originals, one of a kind.
Otherwise: still filming short talking-head videos about marketing, branding, and the occasional drumming metaphor. Still on the drums most Sundays. Still up by 3:30 — prayer, coffee, then work. The truck's truly become a rolling office: Starlink Mini, battery backup, laptop mount. The whole company now parks wherever I do. In and around Collinsville, Illinois.
